Ma Narmada-Ganga Nadi Story: इसके बाद नर्मदा ने भगवान शिव की शरण लेने के लिए काशी में जाकर घोर तपस्या की। जब शंकर जी प्रकट हुए और उन्होंने नर्मदा से वर मांगने को कहा। तब नर्मदा ने कहा कि तुम जो भी वरदान देना चाहते हो मुझे दे दो। तब भगवान शिव ने कहा- तुम्हारे दोनों तटों के सभी पत्थर मेरे ही स्वरूप के शिवलिंग माने जायेंगे। तुम गंगा, यमुना और सरस्वती में श्रेष्ठ होगे। आपके दर्शन मात्र से ही आपके पाप धुल जायेंगे।
